Red 3 – What Went Wrong?
Red 3 Movie
The Red 3 movie won’t be hitting our screens ever it seems. RED comes from “Retired, Extremely Dangerous” and the first 2 movies were actually quite enjoyable.
Sadly there won’t be a third episode being produced.
The first film, Red, was released on October 15, 2010. The film stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, and Helen Mirren. It revolves around four retired CIA agents who reunite to go after a group of assassins that are trying to kill them.
The sequel to Red came out on July 19, 2013. Again starring Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, and Mary-Louise Parker with Helen Mirren reprising her role from the first film. You can grab this movie here to buy on Blu-Ray or DVD.
There are also new characters in this movie including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-hun Lee. The story follows the four retired CIA agents as they try to stop a deadly weapon of mass destruction from falling into the wrong hands.
Sadly, there will not be a Red 3 movie as the studio decided to end the series after two films. It’s a real shame as fans were looking forward to seeing how the story of these retired CIA agents would progress. Instead, we’ll have to settle for re-watching the first two movies in order to get our Red fix.
Red 3 Movie Cancelled
It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of Red 3. We have been working hard on this project for the past year, and we are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished. However, due to a number of factors beyond our control, we have not been able to secure the necessary funding to complete the film. This is a difficult decision, but we believe it is the best course of action for everyone involved. We would like to thank our cast and crew for their dedication and hard work. We would also like to thank our fans for their support. We hope to be able to bring you another film in the future. Thank you.
What does this mean for character Francis “Frank” Moses, played by Bruce Willis,
For Frank Moses, Bruce Willis’s character in the movie “Red,” this means that his life of crime is finally catching up with him. He’s been on the run for years, and now the people he’s been running from are finally closing in on him. He’s got enemies on all sides, and nowhere to turn. His only hope is to find the one person who can help him clear his name and get out of the mess he’s in. But will he be able to find her before it’s too late? Grab the double feature here and enjoy watching both films.
In May 2013, Lionsgate re-signed Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber to write the third installment. However, the project was eventually cancelled due to a lack of interest from the studio.
For those who enjoyed the two Red films, there is still hope for a future return of the characters. Rumours persist that a possible television series could be in development, so fans should keep an eye out for any further announcements. That said, it’s unlikely we’ll get to see Bruce Willis and co back on the big screen again anytime soon.
In the meantime, fans can re-watch the first two films and marvel at the chemistry between Willis and his three co-stars. Or maybe look for something else, such as Jack Reacher, Mission Impossible or other similar genre action type productions.
Until then, we can only hope that the Red trio gets one last mission to complete.
